A little less addicted to technology.

(Written Dec. 2016)

Did you know that you can turn your iPhone into black/white screen, which can help in reducing technology addiction? Just triple click that home button.

It's no secret that we are ADDICTED to our cell devices. Technology is great, but we have to learn how to use it in a balanced way, which can be hard to do. This is because we get a hit of dopamine (feelings of satisfaction and excitement) in the reward center of our brains every time we check our devices and we get a text, a "like", an email, or find a new pretty "pin" for Pinterest. Part of what attracts us to our phone/iPad is the brilliant colors they produce- it's like candy to our brains. By turning your phone on a black/white filter, it helps reduce the "high" you get from being on your device, and can aid in reducing the craving to be on it all the time. And with less time on our cell phones, we can practice being more present to our world, invest in one-to-one relationships, and reduce car crashes (DON'T TEXT AND DRIVE)! There's your tidbit for the day, and now I'm off to finish season 3 of Homeland. (Kidding.) (Sort of.)
